Constitution Day

In times of war, questions about patriotism and civic engagement arise and, not surprisingly, are open to much debate. Disparate opinions and often polarizing points of view regarding patriotism are prominently featured in the national media, raised by our local, state and national leaders, and are a significant part of the discussion on blogs, talk shows, and nightly newscasts. Questions regarding a citizen's patriotic responsibility in a democratic society in times of war have ramifications that go to the heart of our constitutional form of government. What does is mean to be a patriot in a time of war? What are the historic constitutional issues concerning patriotism? What is our role in a democratic society? Plan to join our panel of scholars for a lively discussion on what it means to be civically engaged in these times.
